Whoever She Is

All Time Low have proven time and time again that they can write well, both musically and lyrically. So hearing that every track is co-wrote makes me a little upset. I have not heard the new album but I do have it pre-ordered and I am looking forward to it. While So Wrong, It's Right was not a very diverse album, it was solid. The lyric mesh well with the lyrics to the point of drum beats and guitar build up matching the heart beats of the 'characters' in the song (listen to Remembering Sunday, you'll hear it). Weightless was a great, uplifting, relatable song that seemed to get fans excited to jump on board for the new album. Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't) got mixed reviews however, and while having a diverse album is great, and could really show the range that I know they have, it very easily could hurt them. Be honest with yourself, you don't want another Party Scene or So Wrong, It's Right; you already know those albums and love them, so a second one would just kill everything. New is great, new is what you expect from a young band. They are still growing as people and as musicians, hell I'm pretty sure Alex is still going through puberty, naturally this causes an shift in music. If every song is co-written, how much of that change is them and how much is the producer? I would rather wait another two or three months and get an All Time Low album then get an All Time Low, plus Producer A, plus Producer B, plus Producer C album. If this is the working of the record label or the band, we will probably never know, but it this is label pressure, then that untitled song they were playing on the Sell Outs tour, deserves to be on this album. It may have been the only true, honest ATL song on there. We, as a fan community, have heard the lyrics the Alexander William Gaskarth has written, and we have fallen in love with them. We have heard the voice that he possesses. We have heard the amazing ability to put chords, which in some cases could never work, together that Jack Barakat has. We have felt the bass lines pump through our chests like heartbeat that connects us to Zack Merrick. We have all at some point air-drummed along with the amazing Rian Dawson. I don't know about everyone else but I expect a band to build on what they have released, and release something bigger and better. But what if I heard Matt Squire's take on that and not Alex's or Jack's or any one in the bands? Don't get me wrong I love Matt Squire, he is an idol of mine, but I bought Nothing Personal to hear the evolution of those four guys, not Matt. The article left me weary about a new album, and a little scared for it. Hopefully, it won't disappoint, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Theres a lot I’ll try not to forget anything. I got a ride from my sister’s friend he was supposed to be at my house at 9 but didn’t show till 1030. I got there about 15 minutes after doors. Went and got my Jac Vanek fliers to pass out, then bough the new This Century EP, asked Trey to dance (I will get that up soon promise!!) and videoed it, then went and caught the last Dear and the Headlights song, I wish I saw more, they are a really good band you guys should all go check them out. Then POS came on so I ran before my ears started bleeding, and bought merch.

While I was checking the sign with all the set times this guy walks over and goes “Damn, I shouldn’t have bought a beer” and I just look over and he goes, “I left to buy a beer and my friends leave me, do you have a light?” I was like what the fuck?!! Then told him I didn’t have a light. I went back to see There For Tomorrow, they were really good. After that I had a little more then 2 hours before I had anything I wanted to do so I walked around and checked out booths and hung out with Joel and Sean. I saw Steven from FUSE, he’s really chill, if you guys see him go say hi! The guy at the Photofinish booth gave me a signed Danger Radio booklet for guessing how old he was (18). I met Rachael and she is the nicest person ever! Oh My God she is just an amazing person! Eric and Nick went and hung around for a little bit and so I talked to them, Eric hit me in the head with the sign, twice .

At 230 I went to the Maine signing but the line was closed so I walked over to Max and chilled with him, and had him call Alex. I was just chilling there talking to Pat and Kennedy while they signed. After that I ran over to catch Breath Carolina’s set. Amazing, they are so great. This Century acoustic was right after so I went over to the tent and saw them play, they were great, as usual. Austin Gibbs was teching for them. I had to run right when it was over to catch the Maine’s set. Holy crap it was amazing, still don’t like the cover though. I ran into girls there that I’ve seen at other concerts and talked to them then headed over to the Maine’s tent and sat with Tatiana and Pamela until about 6 then I went to check out A Rocket to the Moon.

I went up and got second row and the girl next to me was wasted beyond belief. Halvo called her out cause she kept doing that thing where you put your middle and pointer fingers on either side of your mouth and stick your tongue out. He was like , “That’s inappropriate, you need to stop” at the end of the set she pulled her pants off and almost peed in the pit but one of the girls stopped her. (thank god) after that I spent the next about 2 hours just floating around the Maine and A Rocket to the Moon’s tent , cause they were right next to each other. By about 730 most of the people were gone and Rocket had gone back to their bus I went and watched a couple of 3OH!3’s songs before going back to the Maine, honestly then best part of the night was the 10 minute conversation I had with Kenny about soccer. He’s so nice! Trey was taking down the tent and the had GK posters that they had written on the back of so I asked him for them and got 6 flying pig posters and 1 with the Maine’s promo pics. Then this girl walks up to Kenny and goes “Can you si-oh my god” so I look behind me then the girl starts talking to me and I realize she a girl I used to play soccer with, but havn’t seen in years. At 9 about 5 people and John were all that was left and we were all standing around talking and security came over and yelled at everyone to leave. It was a great day to say the least!

I woke up at 6:30 and then at around 7:15 my mom dropped me off at the subway stop (in LA public transit sucks so yes I was driven to the subway) got off in Hollywood and took a bus to the Roxy. I missed my stop (smart I know) and had to walk about a mile back to the Roxy got there at 8:15. There were 4 girls in front of me who had been there since 5 am. At 9 another girl showed up then at 11 4 more did the 5 girls behind me all knew each other and from 11-3 ish we all talked and hung out then at 3:45 the Cab pulled up and started unloading The Summer Set cam about ten minutes later and me and this girl Sarah went over and said hi she told Josh that I had been there since 8 and he called me an inspiration. I talked to him, Jess and Stephen for a little bit then went over to Singer and Brian and hugged them and talked to them for a little bit before going back to Jess, Josh and Stephen. Chrissy and Codi showed up at 5:20-ish and had subway for me. Jess and Josh went to go get lunch (Dinner?) and I took out my sandwich but felt really awkward cause I was still talking to Stephen so I offered him a bite and he took 3 HUGE ones. After a while I went and got back in line with Chrissy, Codi and Sarah.

Doors were at 7 but around 630 a huge car accident happened in front of the venue. 4 cars one was totaled and a lady had to be taken out a stretcher. It all happened in front of The Summer Sets van so Dylan and Stephen came running out and me and Sarah just go “they didn’t hit the van” and they both turn around and go back to sound check. 5 minutes before doors Brian and John show up (they had been at the studio) and the guy from The Secret Handshake walked through the line. We explained to him that there was a 2 drink minimum and he said it sucked but there was nothing he could do about it.

Doors opened and since there were inly 50 people with early entry plus the 4 people in front of me I was able to walk up to the stage and get front row, center with no fight. Anarbor was first and they KILLED it, amazing show, Slade stepped on my hand twice and got his sweat on me. They had the entire sold out room dancing. I got a lot of pictures of them.

Eye Alaska was next, they were really good, the lead singer bent down in front of me and sung like in my face, pretty incredible. Some girl tried to pull him into the crowd so me, Sarah and Chrissy pushed him back up and pulled her hand away. They also had a great show. The singer had great crowd interaction but the rest of the band was pretty stationary, still a great show. Brian from the Summer Set came out on their last song, it was pretty cool.

Next was the Summer Set. Ah-fucking-mazing! Oh my god. Stephen was pretty much in front of me the entire time. Brian killed it but didn’t really interact much which kind of made me sad. Josh was having a hard night because he had missed sound check but it’s ok. Jess lost her head phones at one point and the cord got rapped around her neck, but she recovered. When that happened Stephen was trying to play while not falling over laughing, it was fun to watch. All in all a great set, and I can’t wait to see them again.

The Secret Handshake. SUCKED!!!!! I hated the set, the huge light up speakers were flashing, and not even in time with the music, the music was terrible and I just couldn’t get into the set at all. One good thing did happen though. Kyle Burns and J-Cook showed up during their/his set.

The Mother Fucking Cab, as Slade put it, was amazing. The entire set was just full of energy the entire room was singing and dancing after about 7 songs everyone but Singer and Brian left and The y played Vegas Skies and part of High Hopes in Velvet Ropes acoustic. During Vegas Skies, Singer walked over to us when I reached up to touch him, he grabbed my hand looked down at me and sang “so lets make one more wrong turn tonight” making me melt. They played 3 more songs then left. They barley made us work for an encore and played Disturbia and Bounce. During Disturbia Marshall gave me a guitar pick and closed my hand around it, before I could more my arm a girl and 2 of her friends grabbed my arm and clawed me to get the pick out of my hand. Pretty insane, but Marshall saw so he gave me his towel after Bounce. I now have Marshall sweat : ).

I went and stood next to the Summer Set’s merch booth after the show and me and Josh were taking bets on how long until Dylan died because the booth was WAY crazier then he was used to. I bought the Summer Set’s new tank top that says “The Summer Set For Your Health” and put a 5 to free Taylor, Dylan gave me a poster as a thanks you and I had Jess sign it then told her she was a super hero for putting up with the guys cause Josh to yell “Hey, we’re not THAT bad” and me and Jess to laugh. I bough the Cab shirt that picks on the old Run DMC shirts and a tour shit and since it was cheeper then normal had enough money to get an Anarbor shirt and EP and an Eye Alaska EP. Out side I had Singer and Cash sign the towel and Stephen, Josh and John sign the poster.

Now the damage. My neck, throat and back hurt like heel. I have a 3inch but 3inch bruise on each thigh from being pushed into the stage (there was no barricade) and I’m still dehydrated. Possibly the best concert I’ve ever been to.

as far as the resent changes with the maine:

i will still listen to them and support them but i am letdown. the trailer is a minute thirty of John and the new Banner is John then maybe other peole. i understand that hes the lead singer and will get more attention but at least make it so we can see the other people!!! dont get me started on the new head shot thingy, too much make up, that just not them, i have a feeling it wasnt there idea to get a pound of make up dumped on them. YES i am proud of how far the have gotten and YES i do think they desrve everything they are geting, just i wonder is it worth what its costing them?

i was reading a journal on buzznet and... im not going to saw who, because you either read it or you didnt, but this girl wrote about her struggle with cutting and how she found comfort in writing and it was weird how well i related to it, both of us went through WAY worse things AFTER we stopped but found a lot more comfort in something other then what we used to turn to. People should turn to the power of words before anything else, before cutting themselves, before cutting ties with family and frinends, before cutting and destroying anything, take it out on a piece of paper. Type a novel of your feelings, lets words flow from your finger tips not blood, and if your not satisfied, try to make it rhyme, by the time it rhymes, youll no longer know or care why you were so mad before.

i know ian (FTSK tech) is ok and out of custody. as far as i know only We The Kings, Mercy Mercedes and Forever the Sickest Kids's crew was involved and no band members were involved (although im sure had police not been holding them back they would have been) does anyone know about T-Fair or Chris-V (WTK crew) i heard Chris got pretty beaten, also if you know anything beyond what in the AP article and the comments on the page (http://www.altpress.com/news/6635.htm) can you tell me? thanks!!!

Holy fucking shit best night EVER ok so well start with when I woke up and ill try to go in chronological order.  My mom woke me up by yelling “AP TOUR!!!!” so I was up fast went to school got nicks taylor swift poster from Maureen talked about how excited I was all day, left at lunch took the subway, alone, to the venue met Sabrina (cobras07 on buzznet) she was behind me inline she was chill Pat comes out from backstage and goes “does any one know how to get to in n out” and since im a fatty I know and give him directions “go to sunset make a right its just past Hollywood high” yeah I told him twice and then I told Kenny cause he couldn’t remember. I met and hugged Garrett Daniel Nickelsen no idea how im still breathing! I had everyone exceot Kenny sign my AP but I hugged them all!  so Halvo fails at parking, he was driving the van and parked half in the parking lane half in the street, FAIL. So Britton and halvo get out of the van (which was right in front of me in line) and Halvo gives me a hug and remembered me from the SmartPunk show and Britton walked away, haha so I hear banging from the van and realize people are banging on the windows but it unlocked (according to Halvo) so I open the door and realize it had been child locked (I have a feeling John did it) and Justin Richards comes out and thanks me followed by tim and nick and bam and so on… so I give nick the poster of taylor swift and he got a huge smile on his face and said thank you and he loved it (happy Maureen?) Tim and Loren were being dumb and goofing around and there were bees so a bee got into the van then Tim pushed Loren in and shut the door, it was funny but I don’t think he got stung…. then I walked with Halvo, Justin and Bam over to the front of the building/ walkway to backstage and we were talking for at least 45 minutes just the three of us then Briton told them that the van was being moved in 10 minutes so they needed to get there stuff Halvo take out his suitcase looks at me and asks me what he should wear, I fail at matching! So I picked out a CSWS uniform (cause im lame!) and he liked it then wore it on stage and I felt special! While we were talking people would walk up and take pictures then walk away and we kept talking it was awesome! So then they had to go sound check and went to Sharkeys for lunch and I went back in line then I saw Zack Merrick (que fans freaking out!) or so I would think, no one knew who he was ! :O do I gave him a hug and got back in line. Then we stared to move and the people in front of us were bitchy but we got in before them and got second row from the barricade I took stalker pics of ARTTM talking off to the side and begged Aaron to change the music cause it was shit he just shrugged and said there was nothing he could do (can we get Trevor back now!?!?) I was second row during all of ARTTM’s set and was jumping and singing like the lame idiot I am and Halvo pointed to me during If Only They Knew when Nick sang “I could get lost in a voice like yours” then after there set the girl in front of me (who had been one of the people who walked up to take a picture with Halvo earlier) turns to me and goes “Are you Eric’s little sister?” haha I wish I told her no I had just met them at shows. Hit The Lights was okay but I nothing special Family Force 5 had a great live show that was to die for! 3OH!3 killed it! And they had some chick I don’t remember come out to sing with them…. The Bryce for A Rocket Summer came out and played a song. By this point it was hot and the pit was crazy so Aaron walks by with water bottles and we yell at him for water but he says he cant (again wheres Trevor?!?!) then Max had a case of water and wouldn’t give us any (Sorry Alex, im mad at him!) but Chloe gave us some (thank god!!) then the people in front of me left so I had baracade for the Maine I was like 3 feet from Garrett  I have no idea how im still alive! They played an awesome set and we started the “one more song” chant then Pat came out so we got excited he walked over to us and said the venue wouldn’t allow and encore I say fuck the venue and play but they couldn’t (FML!!!!) so it like 11 by this point I walk over to the merch tables (literally in a closet!) and get the “I like you like, like-like you” shirt for the Maine and the ARTTM hoodie for half price because according to bam “You’re cool, but don’t tell anyone” plus Halvo had told him too earlier. (im an eavesdropper!) so I also grabbed a physical of Greetings From and on the way out hugged Halvo and told him id see him next time there in town then I didn’t see Loren but he stopped he and hugged me good-bye (that was so ridiculously amzing!) and Nick waved to me on my way out but I didn’t see Justin :’( oh weel then I went home! Im leaving a lot out but that’s the major stuffs now bed time!

Today started at 8 am when Maureen woke me up. I jumped since we were supposed to leave at 8. Her mom left and we had to stay with her little sisters (5&7) until her mom was home. Figuring we weren’t going to make it to the concert today I was bummed to say the least but her mom was home at 845 and we left taking 2 buses to the subway to downtown LA. Where we had to catch the Amtrak cause it was all that moved fast enough to get us to OC on time. It took us from 845 untill 1130 to get from the valley to Fullerton. When we get on the buss in Fullerton we realize we don’t know what our stop is, because in our hurry to leave I left the directions at home. So we got off at what we thought was the stop. We were so off! We walked for a half hour (until 1215) before we got on the bus again and called my other friend to find out what stop we needed. We see three girls with Fearless gift bags and one in a “STAY BRUTAL” shirt so we got off and could hear music so we sprinted to the parking lot.

 

I was shocked at how few people there were Maureen and I guessed around 200. Runner Runner was playing and we had miss This Century and the stage collapsing. Im not sure what happened but while This Century was playing the stage collapsed. I saw Ryan from TC first and talked to him for a little bit, bought Early Love for 5 dollars, talked to Joel from TC and got a high five from him, bought the “This Century is Terminally Chill” shirt that came with the digital EP. It was very high tech you wrote your name and email on a sheet of paper and get the EP emailed to you! Haha walking around I saw Bree and Kron from Buzznet so we talked to then for a little bit and got stickers! Woo! I then saw Richard and no joke dropped my bag ran and gave him a hug. Yes Im that much of a loser! Someone from SmartPunk walked by and told Richard that “Rocket and The Maine just pulled up” so he left to go into the warehouse (we were all in the parking lot). Me and Maureen walked around back and found the Rocket guys, John, Jared and company barbequing Tim and Ashley are the only ones who saw us before we left. I didn’t want to interrupt lunch.  Inside the office there is 1 bathroom and a really long line, at the front of the line is a door with a window that looks into the storage area of the warehouse, Nick, Justin, Loren, Eric and a couple of other people were inside there so I stood and watched through the window like a creeper! I then walked out and was stuck at the back of the crowd in front for the entire show. It was great! They played the Taylor Swift cover, and a whole bunch of others! (ill give you a set list if you really care!) during Baby Were Invincible Justin was beat boxing in during the instrumental. And then the did a little bit of Yellow by Coldplay and Our Song by Taylor Swift before the last Chorus. I then went and talked to Eric Halverson (I will post that separate it was epic!) Loren and Justin, who signed my Early Love and told me Brighten may have new music coming up soon (shh I don’t think I’m supposed to tell) I walked onto the side walk and heard Tim yell for people to clear the way (he has a loud voice I was shocked) so instead I ran ahead and stood by the side of the “stage”

 

I was maybe 3 feet from John and a little behind him. Highlights of their set:

-John bleching in the middle of We All Roll Along

-John admitting to wear womens deodorant (once according to him)

-John talking about wetting his pants

-Jared laughing at John for forgetting the second verse of The Way We Talk

-Having Tim laugh at me explain to Maureen she wont be able to hear me over the screaming fan girls

-John admitting to wetting his pants in 7^th grade

-John admitting to being hung over

-Getting a hug from John with out having to ask

-Finding Nicks water bottle (the one the rolled away thanks to TC breaking the stage)

That’s about it…. It was crazy fun! There was a lot more that happened but this is already really long. Jared and Richard signed my AP poor John got pinned to the bus. And Jared smells like sharpie.

I am planing on making a puzzle and sending pieces to people all around the country for The Maine during AP Tour Richard (head of the street team) and Fearless Records already know about it and i need more people how would be interested in delivering a piece!
